Ray Ellis is one of the charter members of I Cantori and has been a frequent soloist with the group, including performances of The Messiah and the Faure Requiem. He holds a BA in Music Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and recently retired after 31 years in the area public schools, most recently as Choral Director and Drama Director at South Effingham High School.
Ray is a member of the American Choral Directors’ Association and the Georgia Music Educators’ Association. He is also an accomplished pianist. He has served as Music Director at Taliferro Baptist, Windsor Forest Baptist and Silk Hope Baptist churches. Currently He is the Music Director/ pianist at Asbury Memorial Church and also works as a caregiver for Coastal Care Partners. In his free time, Ray can often be found on the stage in one of Savannah’s community theatres. Ray is also pursuing a career in Voice Over and film acting. He is also happy to say that he met his husband, Randy Canady, while singing with I Cantori.
